Peter Clark
Communications Director
As Communications Director, Peter Clark has managed the communications department at Texans Care for Children since 2014. For 25 years, he has worked to change policy by shaping public debates and communicating with policymakers.
In his role as Communications Director, Peter works closely with the policy team and partner organizations on creating new written materials and videos, developing communications strategy and effective messaging for policy advocacy, managing media relations, and more. Peter has authored opinion pieces for numerous media outlets in addition to collaborating on many op-eds published by his colleagues. He also has provided trainings on a variety of policy communications topics.
From 2006 to 2014, Peter ran the Capitol office of State Rep. Mike Villarreal, spearheading policy and communications efforts as the Legislative Director and then Chief of Staff. He previously worked in Washington, DC as a legislative aide to a U.S. Congressman and a Senior Policy Associate at a non-profit advocacy organization. His volunteer experience includes serving as a human rights observer in Colombia, an election monitor in Mexico, an officer in his neighborhood elementary school’s PTA, a Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor, and a coach of his children’s baseball and basketball teams.
Peter has a bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary and a master’s degree from UT Austin’s LBJ School of Public Affairs.
